The Healing Drum Making Experience Next Event December 4th 2021 Hosted at Gramma's Saltz & More Rock falls IL
In Shamanic Traditions World Wide the drum and rattle are the first sounds of Creation and our Heart Beat. Think about when you where born what was the first sound you heard, Your Mother's Heart Beat? Just hearing the sound of the drum provides healing to our Mind, Body, and Spirit and brings us back into the sounds of Creation.
Bruce Whitewolf (Seva) & Jennifer Jaguar Moon (Amrit) have guided many people into the Healing Drum Journey. "With working with the drum, it teaches us stillness, control, about our own life and Community Connections. The drum is a Circle and so we also live in a Circle!"Bruce Whitewolf
Materials we useAll drum materials are treated with Spiritual Respect of the Animals and Trees we use. Before we host our drum workshops, Seva and Amrit do a Special Honoring and Thank You Ceremony to honor the Animals and Tree Spirits we work with.
Shamanic and Native American Meaning of DrumsThe best size drum to make is either 15 inch or 18 inch. This will give you the best sound. Sometimes for kids we make smaller drums, and can even go larger for each person's needs. But the most common are 15 and 18 inch.
How to pick your drumWe use Deer, Elk, Cow, Buffalo, Moose, Horse, and sometimes can get a hold of Bear
Based on the above drum choices... Close your eyes and does one of these animals call to you? If so now think about your personal meaning of that Animal. Exp. if you said Buffalo calls to me, how would you describe buffalo or what do you think of when you think of buffalo? This is your personal medicine of that Animal Spirit. You might have 20 Shamans working with the Medicine of Buffalo. But they all might have different power and meaning.
Also when we look at traditions around the world there might be similar teachings about each animal. Below is a basic understanding of each drum. But remember this is your power and the drum and animal will talk to you, and it is about what powers you put into the drum.
Deer- teaches us about stillness, being gentle, love, and slowing down in our lifeElk- Long and Steady, Self Empowerment, Personal Goals, asking for helpHorse- Running Wild and Free SpiritedBuffalo- Connection to Ancestors, Native American Medicine Drum, Community, Putting others FirstMoose- Gentle but very Strong, Pushing things out of our way that does not serve us, making decisions on your own Cow- connection to Gaia, Mother Earth, Fertility, Birth, NurturingBear- Keeper of Dream World and Letting Go
Many shamans also have other Spirit Animals. For exp. my main power animals is a Wolf and Hawk. However I have a Buffalo Drum to Honor The Ancestors and Native American Energies. But I had painted a Wolf and Hawk on my drum.
If you have any questions on how to choose the right drum for yourself please reach out to Bruce Whitewolf (Seva).
How we host most of our GatheringsWith making over 200+ drums in many different types of groups. We have learned that offering workshops on a Saturday or Sunday is best and we found starting around 1:00pm works for most people (however this can be flexible for your group or one on one experience). To make a drum takes about 2-4 hours. We also include an opening Talking Circle, Shamanic Power Animal Journey, Community Potluck Feast, Closing Ceremony, and sometimes a Potlach (giveaway ceremony) Both Seva and Amrit have studied with many different Medicine People and work and honor in many different traditions. Please ask us if you have questions or would like to do something special for your group or One On One Experience. Most of the time we gather from about 1pm-8pm so everyone can enjoy making their drum, ceremony, and community time together.
Cost Of DrumsAgain we use different types of hides and sizes and all drums include a beater (either by using a deer leg or a Tree Sapling from a Sacred Site)
Drum Prices range from $225-$500 depending on the size and type of hideThis cost includes All Day Ceremony, Teachings, and a Drum Beater
